Attending a Bridal Show 101

It’s that time of year.  Bridal shows begin to emerge and the excitement is irresistible.  This is a special event to attend!  Here are some tips and things you can expect:

What is a Bridal Show?

If you’ve never been to one, it is a culmination of many hours of preparation and planning.  It features vendors (wedding businesses) assembled in one place to give a bride-to-be a unique shopping experience.  Some shows feature other businesses that offer goods and services to your friends and family who attend as well.

How Should You Prepare for the Show?

Have a list:  Something so simple can be so helpful at a bridal show.  You can stay focused on what you need while exploring new ideas.

Bring pre-printed address labels: You can enter to win door prizes and other individual contest at vendor booths. Writing your name and address repeatedly can get tiring for you or your wedding party.

Create a separate email account only for your bridal planning:  This is especially helpful according to Chase Nobis, owner of Complete Wedding + Events Grand Rapids.  “This will keep planning more organized and you can delete the address after the wedding.”

Bring “helpful” helpers with you:  Opinions are great, but too many can be a bit overwhelming and ruin your experience.

Get those take-home bags and other free gifts:  Go through those bags as soon as you can.  You may find other great ideas, etc.

Attend the fashion show (if they have one):  Seeing bridal apparel on models can help you make wise decisions.

What Can You Expect While Chatting with a Vendor?

Vendors are people too:  It is very important to remember that vendors are talking to hundreds of people during a bridal show.  If you can’t get all of your questions answered or they seem a bit tired—don’t be concerned.  When you book them, their focus will be only on you and your wedding.

Get contracts if you can:  Read Them!  A reputable vendor such as Complete Weddings + Events wants you to fully understand what you are signing.

Ask if you can take pictures:  Vendors must adhere to copyright policies.

Above all, dress comfortably and have fun—this is a “mall” devoted to the wedding of your dreams!

Don’t forget to stop by the Complete Weddings + Events—booth at the Lansing Bridal Association Show—September 17th, 2017.  It will be held at the Lansing Center in Downtown Lansing from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
